Michael Feinstein

City Councilmember/Author
I'm a 20-year resident of Santa Monica, a
city I love.
I'm running for re-election to continue working tirelessly on a 'quality
of life', pro-neighborhood/pro-community agenda.
Since first elected in 1996, I've been successful achieving:
• more parks, recreational facilities and open space
• environmental health and sustainability
• quality education, child care and support for our youth
• human-scale development protecting and enhancing our neighborhoods
• affordable housing and renters' rights
• public transportation
• a strong local economy, including community-serving small, locally-owned
business
• the arts
• civil liberties and civil rights
As we update our City’s Land Use and Circulation Plan for the first
time in 20 years, we face traffic, parking and livability problems resulting
from ill-conceived past development - locally and in Los Angeles.
Together we must now answer ‘how’ and ‘how
much’ we should develop. While our community is often divided
by strong political passions, I've demonstrated a proven ability to work
with diverse groups and individuals, build consensus, and get things
done.
My goal is a city of opportunity and quality
of life for all – families, youth and seniors, renters and
homeowners, workers and small businesses.
I ask for your vote. I won’t forget it.
