October 23rd, 2005 (Sunday): 

Approve County Council Election Outreach/Education Plan

 

October/November 2005: 

Increase Email Addresses for GPLAC members
including contacting Green locals, an appeal on the GPLAC web site and other places on the net (like indymedia), ad in Change Links, etc.

November 2005:

GPLAC members: get involved in 2006 County Council elections

Email to all GPLAC members in the county data base, as well as Green locals, an appeal on the GPLAC web site and other places on the net (like indymedia), ad in Change Links, etc.

December 3rd (Saturday):

Southern California 2006 Green Strategy Session

Efforts under way to reserve Santa Monica College. Includes infomation session on County Council races.

January 2006:

GPLAC members: get involved in 2006 County Council elections

Email to all GPLAC members in the county data base, as well as Green locals, an appeal on the GPLAC web site and other places on the net (like indymedia), an ad in Change Links, etc.

February 14th, 2005 (Tuesday) to March 10th, 2005 (Friday, 5pm):

County Council Candidate Nomination Signature Period
To qualify for the ballot for County Council,  period in which one must gather at least 20 valid nomination signatures, from registered Greens in the district, requires a trip to Norwalk to the County Registrar's office to take out official nominations papers

March 16th (Thursday): 

Randomized Ballot Order Drawing by Secretary of State

E-82 The Secretary of State shall hold a public drawing to determine order of candidates' name on ballot by randomly drawing each letter of the alphabet. (E. C. ¤ 13112)

 

March 17th (Friday):

List of Qualified Candidates/Winners in Non-Competitive Districts

After nomination signatures are validated, a list of ballot qualified candidates is published.  In any district in which the number of candidates is the same or less than the number of seats, all candidates are considered to be elected and no one's name goes on the ballot.

Include candidate statement and answers to candidate questionnaire, link to candidate web site, and information about any County Council candidate forums held before the June 6th election

 

April 10th, 2006 (Monday) to May 23rd, 2005 (Tuesday, 5pm):

Write-In Candidates Declaration Period

E-57 E-14 A name written on a ballot will not be counted unless the person has filed during this period a declaration stating that he or she is a write-in candidate for the election.

Follow up email, timing to arrive before absentee ballots begin to be cast, to all GPLAC members who have emails in the county data base, as well as contacting Green locals, an appeal on the GPLAC web site and other places on the net (like indymediaorg), an ad in Change Links, etc.

May 22nd, 2006 (Monday):

Last Day to Register to Vote in County Council Election

E-15 Last day to transfer or register to vote in the primary election.
