Feinstein on proposed unlimited heights and density in the Downtown Specific Plan, Santa Monica, May 6, 2013

Former Santa Monica Mayor Michael Feinstein speaks on the possibility of unlimited heights and density at proposed 'opportunity sites' in the Santa Monica Downtown Specific Plan. At the  Downtown Specific Plan Community Workshop, Santa Monica. May 6th, 2013. Santa Monica Civic Auditorium East Wing.

This workshop was hosted by the Planning Commission and began with a staff presentation, followed by unlimited time per speaker, for members of the public to speak.  The informational notice for the workshop stated that it would include "an open discussion on: Development Standards of height and density, Opportunity Sites of unlimited height and density, Circulation Strategies, and Process for Proposed Projects.  The [Downtown Specific] Plan is required to implement Land Use and Circulation (LUCE) policies that encourage a diversity of uses downtown that foster a high quality of life, economic vitality, and cultural enrichment while trying to minimize the impact of vehicle trips and managing congestion."
